Oak Meadows

Understanding the need for improvements in a community with limited resources, UB Community Development took decisive action to revitalize Oak Meadows, an affordable housing community in Oneonta, Alabama. This 48-apartment home multi-family community has been a cornerstone for low-income families, providing them with a safe, affordable place to live. Over the years, Oak Meadows began to show signs of wear, making it clear that significant upgrades were needed. UB Community Development allocated $5.3 million in Community Housing Capital funds to restore quality and comfort for residents who rely on this affordable housing development.

The renovations included much-needed structural repairs, ensuring each apartment met modern safety standards. Building foundations, roofing, and plumbing systems, were updated establishing a solid foundation for years to come. Inside each apartment, kitchens and bathrooms were renovated with new cabinetry, fixtures, and energy-efficient appliances, enhancing daily life for residents and creating a more comfortable living environment.

The common areas of Oak Meadows were also updated with community-building in mind. Beautiful landscaping, improved lighting, and newly paved walkways transformed the outdoor spaces into safe, inviting areas where residents can relax and connect with their neighbors. Parking lots were repaved and a new secure entry system added an extra layer of safety, giving residents a greater sense of security and peace of mind.

UB Community Development’s investment in Oak Meadows has breathed new life into the community, offering low-income families a place they can truly feel proud to call home. This project reflects UB Community Development’s commitment to supporting economically challenged areas in Alabama, ensuring that Oak Meadows continues to serve as a stable, welcoming home for Oneonta residents.
